PreTeam
PreTeam gymnasts at NGTC are a special breed. These kids have some basic characteristics in common: a) they tend to go around the house, school playgrounds, friends houses, etc. doing gymnastics moves b) they have a habit of asking their parents "Can I go to gym today!?", c) parents typically have a tough time getting them out of the gym, and d) they love watching the team girls do amazing skills.
If two or more of these characteristics afflict your child, he or she may have come down with the PreTeam Fever!
Like every class offered at NGTC, the girls and boys on PreTeam learn, every class, skills that will be necessary at each of the higher levels. Whether your child is planning on continuing with gymnastics for a long-time or not, we believe strongly that learning the skills necessary to compete is both safer and more fun for the child.
Our Preteam is designed to provide parents and students alike a means by which they can evaluate whether competitive gymnastics is right for them. Beginning with level 1 & 2, our coaches invite trials to pre-team tryouts one or two times annually. If they are selected to join the PreTeam, the girls currently practice a required 2-classes per week (from which they can choose from 3-time options). (please contact us for boys times).
On PreTeam, the girls training is continued from the Level 1, 2 or 3 they were learning previously. Class loads are limited to a 1-coach per 6 or 7 student ratio. The focus of these classes is to teach and drill the proper techniques, strengthening, forms and attitudes that will lead to success for years to come both in- and out-of the gym!
The kids enjoy the mix of fun, discipline, training and competition PreTeam delivers. In addition to learning the required and fun gymnastics skills, the kids are taught how to set goals and follow-through on their accomplishment, be competitive in a positive manner, the concepts of team and working and building-up teammates, and get the most out of themselves!
