NGTC Ends Regular Season Undefeated, Moves into Top 40 Nationally

Congratulations to the NGTC Level 3 and Level 4 Junior Olympic Compulsory Teams for their sixth straight win this season!  All levels are coming off impressive performances at the Harvest Invitational.  And while the 2's, 3's and 4's all scored wins these past meets, none was more impressive than the performance turned in by the Level 3 Team this past weekend.

Level 3 Team scored an impressive 116.275 team score (perfect score is 120) to catapult NGTC into the 39th best team score for that level in the country, and the only gym to break the top 100 in the Northwest!  With approximately 5,200 USA Gymnastics affiliated gyms across the country, securing a spot in the top 40 is quite an accomplishment!

Level 4's are only .05 points away from the #100 spot, also very impressive.

Several of our gymnasts also earned a top 100 ranking, including Avery (Level 3) for making Floor with a 9.85. Samantha (Level 3) also on Floor with a 9.8. Jasmine (Level 3) for making Balance Beam with score of 9.8. Rachel (Level 4) on Floor with a 9.8.

Optionals Save Best for Last…Finish 5th at State Championship

The Optional Team at NGTC had it's highest team score of the season with a 111.525, good enough for 5th place out of 19 teams.  The championships were held March 19, 20, 21, 2016 at The Hoop in Salem, Oregon.  Many teams were present from all over the State, but only 19 had enough gymnasts to form a complete Optional Level 6 Team.

Individual highlights included:

  • Meagan    2nd Place on Uneven Bars, 4th on Vault and Balance Beam, 2nd Place All-Around (37.475)
  • Allee        2nd Place on Balance Beam, 4th Place All-Around (36.750)
  • Claire       2nd Place on Uneven Bars (36.575)
  • Zorya       4th Place on Vault  (36.475)
  • Savannah Personal bests on Balance Beam and All-Around  (35.325)
  • Sophie     Personal Bests on Balance Beam and All-Around  (35.425)
  • Mary        Personal Best on Vault and Floor  (35.675)
  • Renee      A big contributor all season, she unfortunately had to miss State due to a school trip to Mexico.

All of our NGTC Optional Gymnasts had at least 8.2 or higher on every event and, as a team, we had NO FALLS on Balance Beam or Bars for the entire State Meet!

While we have a long way to go, we are very proud of this group of girls that have come so far in such a short period of time!

Congratulations to Coach Dawn Allen for a great job!  This year marks her first full-season in Oregon (moved from Minnesota to Gresham to Coach at NGTC) coaching at NGTC.  Thanks in large part to her efforts and expertise, this performance marked the first time in HISTORY that an NGTC Optional Team has finished in the Top 5 at the State Championships dating all the way back to 2008 when NGTC was formed!

JO/XCEL Bring Home 31 New Individual Titles This Weekend after a 114.35 Score!

The NGTC Teams were on the road this past weekend.  The Level 1 & 2 Teams competed in Hillsboro, OR at Flightschool Gymnastics.  Level 2's continued their dominance with an impressive, and NGTC Team scoring record 114.35, outpacing 2nd place by nearly 4 full-points.  Nice work Coach Sarah!

Level 1's also had a very good meet.  This was the first ever Level 1 competition for our youngest team girls, and they made everyone proud!  With just 3 girls, the minimum needed for a team score, these up & comers posted a 105.20 team score, good enough for 2nd place to the much larger home team, which scored only 106.  Nice going ladies!  Coach Allyson should be quite proud of all her teams!

On Sunday, our Optionals and Xcel teams competed in the Vega Challenge at Battleground High School.  Renee had an excellent showing on Beam, while Allee had a very solid all-around meet.  Xcel posted first place all-arounds and numerous 2nd place finishes.  Good work Coach EJ!

When the dust settled on this busy weekend, NGTC brought home a staggering 31 Individual Titles and another Team Title!  #ngtcrocks  #loveourngtcfamily

NGTC Coaches Selected as Clinicians at USAG State Clinic

NGTC is proud to announce that two of our current coaches have been selected to coach at the 2016 Oregon Gymnastics Boot Camp.  Allyson Allen and Marci McIntyre have both accepted the invitation to be clinicians at the official USAG sanctioned event held this coming July in Eugene, Oregon.

"We are proud of the hard work and determination that all our coaches show on a daily basis" stated Eric Stinson, Director of Gymnastics at NGTC.  "The fact that Allyson & Marci have received some of the recognition they so deserve is a testament to the commitment to excellence they demonstrate regularly."

Only eight coaches from around the State of Oregon were selected to coach at this years event.  The event is open to just 64 compulsory level gymnasts in each of two sessions that wish to jumpstart their gymnastics prior to the Fall, 2016 Season.  It gives the athletes another set of eyes on their skills that may say/do things in a different manner than they are used to getting from her own coach.

Allyson Allen is the Team Director at NGTC, and is the Head Compulsory Coach.  She has been at NGTC since Spring, 2014.

Marci McIntyre is the Asst. Level 4 Coach at NGTC.  She started at NGTC this week after 20+ years at another local gym, including the last 4-consecutive Level-3 State Championships.

Northwest Gymnastics Training Center is proud of our commitment to excellence.  Founded in 2008, NGTC offers both recreational and team gymnastics training for girls, and recreational training for boys.  NGTC offers specialized classes and a gym dedicated to our preschool aged gymnasts.  Call, email or stop by our office 9am-8pm daily to begin your gymnastics journey with one of the premiere gyms in the Northwest!

Marci McIntyre Joins NGTC as Level 4 Coach

Northwest Gymnastics Training Center is proud to announce the addition on another team coach. Marci McIntyre is joining NGTC as the Coach–Level 4 Compulsory starting January 4, 2016.

Marci has a long and distinguished career in gymnastics. The past 26-years, Marci has been at just one-gym. She can count many state and event titles to her credit as she has been the Head Compulsory Coach for many of those years.
Most recently, Marci’s team, co-coached by another newcomer to NGTC starting January, Marjorie Stanwood, won the JO Level 3 Team State Title for the 4th consecutive year, beating 2nd place NGTC by the smallest margin possible, .025 points.

“Marci brings the kind of experience, work-ethic, determination and commitment to excellence that we really value at NGTC,” stated Eric Stinson, Director of Gymnastics, NGTC. “  Her style really melds well with our other coaches and she is still, after all her successes, is very eager to learn and better herself and her teams. That is what we expect our gymnasts to embrace, and to have coaches that live those values says a great deal.”

"Congratulations are due Coach and Team Director Allyson Allen for continuing to assemble a winning combination of outstanding coaches. added Stinson.  We have to be committed to excellence ourselves or we have no right to expect our athletes to do the same.  These coaches, and our current staff and coaches have the attitude and commitment required to succeed, and more importantly, help all our athletes succeed in life!"

Please stay tuned for an announced time for a meet and greet when all will have a chance to meet and ask questions of our new team coaches.

Serious Training…Serious Fun
